Can I get RPL if I enrol into either of the diploma courses?
An assessment pathway exists within both diploma courses. This means that once you enrol into the course you can apply for recognition of your past work experience and training to gain credit for the units which make up the courses.
Do I have to enrol into the diploma courses or can I continue to take on training in one unit at a time?
You have the choice. Depending on your own requirements you can:
- satisfy a short term training need and only take on an individual unit.
- enrol into either of the diploma courses, complete all the course units and be granted with a Diploma or Advanced Diploma of Hospitality (Club Management).
- undertake only the units which will satisfy the education criteria of the ACCM award.

The two training Rooms each have seating capacity for 24 U-shaped and 60 theatre style. The Combined Training rooms 1&2 have seating capacity for 140 theatre style.
How much notice do I have to give on termination?
“Notice of termination” requirements are no longer contained in Industrial Awards. They now form part of the NES National Employments Standards of the Fair Work Act 2009
You are required to give the same amount of notice as your employer is required to give you, however, employees over 45 years of age are not obliged to give the extra week’s notice.
I am considering becoming a club management trainee, what can the CMAA offer me in terms of accredited off-the-job training?
You may be engaged as a Trainee Manager as long as you are enrolled into the nationally accredited qualification: SIT 50307 Diploma of Hospitality Management with an appropriate Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
CMDA offers many individual nationally accredited units of competency from this diploma. Any individual nationally accredited units that you complete (or have completed) with CMDA will be recognised by the RTO that is delivering your diploma. This includes any units where you may have been granted Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) by CMDA.

I have a lot of annual leave accrued. My employer wants me to take this leave next week — is this allowed?
No. Your employer must give one months notice before your commencing annual leave. Obviously, it would be preferable for your employer to discuss your leave liability and arrange a mutually agreed time before demanding that you take the accrued leave.
I have many years on-the-job experience, can I get formal recognition for this within the scope of the RTO?
Yes!! As an RTO the CMAA can now offer all members the opportunity to undertake astructured RPL process by submitting evidence of their work experience as wellas any past training undertaken in order to addressthe competency standards set out in each unit of competency. For thosewishing to undertake the RPL, simply contact CMDA for an initial consultation,whereby your experience and suitability will be discussed along with theprocess and fee’s. If I undertake training in an individual unit, what will I receive as an award for successfully completing it?
All accredited training modules/units successfully completed, either by RPL or actual instructional delivery, will attract a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment award. All non-accredited training modules completed will attract a CMDA Certificate of Completion
My position has been made redundant. What am I entitled to receive?
Notice and Redundancy Pay are now provided for in the Acts NES.
NSW Club Managers maintain their additional severance payments until the 31st of December 2014, as part of the R&LC Awards transitional
agreements. The employer’s consultation obligations for all Club Managers are provided for in clause 8 of the award “ Consultation regarding major workplace change”
What are my annual leave entitlements?
All Club Managers continue to enjoy the benefit of 5 week’s annual leave. The R&LC award provisions for the additional one week’s leave “includes a club manager”.
What are my sick leave entitlements?
“Paid Personal/Carer’s and Compassionate Leave” are now provided for in the Acts NES.
What happens if I give the Board a longer period of notice to assist the Club with a smooth transition and the Board request I leave immediately?
While morally, the employer should probably pay you the full amount of notice, there is no obligation to do so. Your employer is only obliged to pay you in accordance with the relevant NES (National Employment Standards) provisions pertaining to notice periods.

What is the rate of pay on public holidays?
Club Managers receiving a salary in excess of their Award Classification are exempt from the awards Public Holiday Provisions.
All other Managers are entitled to the award penalty payments for work performed on Public holidays Cluse 29 and managers whose rostered day off falls on a public holiday must; (excluding Managers working only Monday to Friday)
1. be paid an extra days pay
2. be provided with an alternative day off within 12 days; or
3. receive an additional day’s annual leave.
What is the structure of the Advanced Diploma course?
Outline of course structure
The units within the Advanced Diploma are nested and sequential, the Certificate I follows pathways through into the Advanced Hospitality level. The Curriculum is based on the Nationally Accredited Hospitality Training Package SIT07
All of the units are compulsory.
The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality is made up of :
ALL of Certificate I, Certificate II, Certificate III and Certificate IV in Hospitality, and the Diploma of Hospitality.
Requirements to receive credential
The participant must successfully achieve all of the learning outcomes in the units in order to receive the relevant credential.
What will the RTO status allow the CMDA to do?
The RTO status enables the CMDA to offer nationally accredited qualifications from Certificate I in Hospitality (Club Operations) through to Advanced Diploma of Hospitality (Club Management) levels. Under the licensing agreement with the William Angliss Institute of Victoria, the CMAA will be the only RTO to be able to offer it’s students qualifications, at these levels, with the Club Management nomenclature.
